Elder Dr. Herbert Lee Ward, Sr.

Elder Dr. Herbert Lee Ward, Sr. received his foundational religious training at the Grace Baptist Church in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York where he received salvation at the tender age of 10 years old under the leadership of Rev. Jacob N. Underwood. After experiencing a bit of what the world had to offer, Elder Dr. Herbert Ward accepted the call of God to ministry at the age of 33 while serving at the Kingdom of God Praise and Worship Center under the leadership of Rev. Clarence Williams and where he served as church caretaker, deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member.  Elder Dr. Herbert Ward, Sr. completed the chaplaincy training course approved by the State of New York and conferred by Servants of God Chaplaincy in January 2018.  Elder Dr. Herbert Ward received a Doctor of Christian Education and a Doctor of Ministry conferred by Anointed by God Ministries Alliance in June 2019.

Elder Dr. Herbert Ward, Sr. currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Gospel House Ministries, Inc. located in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, New York.  Gospel House is an outreach-based ministry that was co-organized with his wife, Pastor Brenda. The ministry consists chiefly of reaching the lost through street and personal witnessing and provoking the Body of Christ to complete its role in fulfilling the great commission of Jesus Christ – finishing the unfinished task.  The deep love and concern for souls that the Lord has placed in Pastor Herb’s heart constrain him to lead the Body of Christ to save the lost at any cost.

Pastor Herb is a God-anointed prayer warrior, teacher and preacher who operates in the five-fold ministry.  Through his faithful attendance in Sunday School and Bible class through the years, God has blessed him to be a gifted teacher and gift to the Body of Christ.   He consistently demonstrates his love for Christ through obedience to the will of God, his love for his family, church family and the lost through acts of kindness and compassion.

The scripture that serves to encourage and gives credibility to his calling can be found in Luke 4:18, 19:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Pastor Ward has several hobbies: fishing, bike riding, watching all sports games and especially cooking on the grill – winter, spring, summer and fall!

After serving in the New York City Department of Education for approximately 20 years, Pastor Ward retired as the head cook at Erasmus High School in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn in 2019. Together, he and his wife have three sons, two daughters, and seven grandchildren.
